i think no movie has been configured for a 7.1 yet. so if u could get o/p on 5 speakers + 1 woofer, then its fine. may be they ll start from now on...

Which model r u using? Have u activated AC3 decoder from the software which would make the soundboard hardware decoder to be used by ur OS. Is this problem recent or from the begining?

If u have the Creative Surround Mixer than go to setting and activate AC3 DECODER by checking the AC3 decode option. You will find the Creative Surround Mixer in :Start Menu -> Program -> Creative Folder. OR see if any such option is available and is it checked. Which model r u using?

Do u have 5.1 or 7.1 speaker(as stated in earlier post)?????? If u play mp3 or audio cd or any such audio format which is not encode in 5.1 channel then u would get o/p on ur 2 front channel. But the woofer should also have o/p with ur 2 front channels. And select 5.1 or 7.1 channel for ur pc from control panel -> multimedia properties-> audio tab( playback - advance properties). And also u must have an software or hardware dvd decoder installed to be able to play a dvd. And I don't use SoundMax so I don't know about it's option available and setting. Sorry... I'll try my best to help u. And by the way what software do u use to playback dvd.

U have a creative card so how can u use SoundMax driver. First install appropriate driver and software provided with ur creative card then try out the solution stated above. SoundMax driver are for onboard audio controller.
