Default Problem with Bluetooth dongle

My friend recently bought a bluetooth dongle(ISSC).....he installed the software provided on the CD (IVT BlueSoleil). Wen he plugged in the dongle in the USB port...Windows cud not recognize it....but the same dongle was recognized on my system.

Also, I too own a Bluetooth dongle (CSR) with the same software....and this dongle is recognized both on my PC and my friends PC.

Both the systems run on Windows XP Home....Wat could b the cause of the problem???Please help me out...

Default hi there

hello bizzare_blue,
it is a very common problem. i had the same with my camera. may be what trash_metal has pointed out that there might be some problem with the USB port. but at times it is better to give it a through ckeck before jumping into any sort of conclusions. Try these out:

1) plug in the device even before u even switch on the comp.

2) right click on My Computer and select properties - then go to the hardware tab - then go to device manager. see that at the end of the list u will find a universal serial bus check if all the listed devices r working properly.

3)then if it is not working properly go to add new hardware and install the universal serial bus. place the driver cd if required

4) still if the problem persists then u may start thinking that the system's USB ports r not functioning properly.
Check all these possibilities out.

Yes, my bluetooth dongle works fine on his PC. Also the USB port can not be faulty because many other devices( Webcam, my dongle, printer, scanner) work well on the same port....In the device manager, it shows an unknwon device (under Universal Serial Bus).

PS: There's 1 more prob with his comp....wen he used to format n install WinXP earlier, the system didn't ask 4 audio or display drivers but now it does....
