like magnet too i had very bad experiences associated with sony crx320a combo drive it lasts for only 13 months ( i month after warrenty over ) and doesn't have service centre in small cities. for example for me service centre is in delhi and the service procedure there is expensive and is time consuming too that means i have 2 go at least three times for tht 2 take place . so understand urself SONY behavior. my friends who bought samsung or lg at around same time with me are in very smiling postion then me

Have been using Sony CRX 320E CD Writer for more than 15months. No problem until now and still works like a charm.

Neways the bottom line is..go in for a SONY......or u can also go in for LG as seen in ur posts....but do not ever go in for a Samsung dude....

I think Liteon has the best bang for the buck. I can also tell what not to buy. Avoid Samsung Optical Drives, be them CDROM,CDRW,DVDROM,DVDRW, because it seems they are disigened to fail just after the warranty period is over.

PS: This observation doesn't apply to other samsung products, which are fairly good.
