DAP has spyware! Don't use it. Rather use Free Download Manager. It came in a Digit CD/DVD some time back. I have recently started using it and its good

well i think the popups are becaouse of ur antivirus and not dap
u mentioned that u want the scannings to be done without any popups.
well i am using nod32 with "silent mode" on.(its a feature of the av which notifies u of only important msgs)
and i dont get any popups.
so basically its a nav prob thats got nothing to do with dap
wat u can do is turn the scanning and av checking off. and scan the files downloaded manually

Free download manager is very good. It takes very less system loads, very small in size + its a freeware n very helpful. I use it regularly since DIGIT started providing it.

well..
I have used many download managers.. even used freshd download,

Fresh download is good but its very limited.. it is not having ability to search for mirrors automatically + it don't let you specify mirror sites..

Say you are doing 200 mb download and after 150 mb the source site is down then ??? your 150 mb gone..

DAP is very efficient in searching for mirrors..
But I prefer flashget b'coz it can also search for mirrors but heck.. its useles.s. but I still prefer b'coz it let me spicify the mirrors at my own.. + its very clean.. And its blocks ie style of showing the progress is cool !

About DAP poping up window of antivirus.. better to turn it off and don't go for "unknown files" !

That's my little piece of sharing .........

c again we are coming to personal opinions.
i get speeds of 14-20 KBps on flashget and 34-42KBps on dap. at the same time downloading the same file from the same server.
so its on personal opinion actually as to wat is the fastest and the best.
: DAP is the most downloaded download manager software.
i suppose that speaks it all.

hmm..

Frankly..
Flashget is somewhat stuff for more eperienced users.. b'coz at first the normal user will not even understand wher to begin !!

FYI .. I get better speeds of download on Flashget ! btw. basically its a general Idea but flashget sounds better..
btw. first download manager I used was DAP itself.. i hae used it from years.................
So still I m saying few days of experience of Flashget proves it better..

well for that matter i used flashget.
just to knw it better used it for a month alongside dap.
for watever reasons other than that it consumes less memory than dap 7(not dap 5 as it takes more or less the same ram); i dont find flashget better than dap.

y the he** are we diverting ?
there are enough threads to suggest which download mgr to use.
lets just keep ourselves to solving the problem instead of suggesting an alernative dwld mgr.
