Default RAM BLUES !!!!!

hellooo folks !!!
i think i have a problem ....

i am running on 512 mb RAM ie (2*256);
i am using windows-xp sp2

my problem is with the amount of ram left unused , it is generally 220 mb
but all friends running on single chips of 512 mb get something like 350 mb unused ;
we have the same programs installed;

so what is the problem;

is it with the dual porting of the ram to get a faster system ;
or is there any prob with the ram chips

please tell me !!!!!!!!!

u must have some more services or programs or both running in the background than ur frnds, i think that can be the only cause.

i think i have a better answer now
the problem was in the bios settings the agp aperture size was set to 256 mb
and the 16 mb was reserved for the agp so i was loosing about 100 mb of ram there so folks better be careful

it means that the programs are using more RAM. thats really good. lot of unused RAM is a wastage. But the real problem arises when this ram is not shared when new programs are executed. Try opening a 10 programs simultaneously on both machine, and did u feel any difference ?
