Hi,
I need answers to some questions:-

1. What is DNS Protocol ?
2. How do I set up my own proxy server from my home?
3.How do I know my IP adress?
4.What does ping command do?

as for the ip address please do specify wat connection do u have same goes for the proxy server

This is the first time i am contributing, hope its usefull

you can see your ip at a number of sites, go to http://www.abeltronica.com/velocimet...=uk&newlang=uk , you can also find your internet speed here.

Well the ping command is used to find if there exists a connection between your system and the given ip address, the different options let you choose the maximum number of hops, and others. you can always use google to get more info abt this

ping sends small data pkt n confirms its reply.
it ensures whether a network is alive or dead.

Thanks guys.. Now for some serious talk.
I cant disable java & javascript as that causes probs to gmail and other site.
next thing is how do I disable cookies without causing any probs to gmail, yahoo, etc.
I know my IP address now. I hv a dial up connection and want to set up my own proxy server from my home pc.
so I again need your help guys

proxy servers r mainly use for Internet connection shareing on the network... some of us use this tool to change our IP to a public IP...

but while useing proxy the main problem is there is no Voice chatting option in the most popular chat clints....

well the proxy servrs also act like buffers to speed up browsing speed and some of them are used to browse anonymously

I hv two browsers maxthon and firefox. I want to set up a proxy network in maxthon. pl tell me how do I set up a proxy server

thanks but I still hv some queries.

First:- In maxthon for proxy setup this window pops up.



plz help me here as I hv no idea what to fill up here.
next in IE , this window:



does address mean IP address and how do I find the port no??
