My friend has gotten internet in his room (in the university) which connects through a central server. The Central server is managed by senior students and such. Now, CAN the guys at the server monitor what all he or she surfs? I mean, see which sites are opened and such? If yes, is there a way to block em' out and maintain one's privacy?
Thanks.

The answer to you first question is yes they can monitor your surfing habits and keep a track on the sitesyou visit (why they would do this on a college server is beyond my understanding).
And the answer to the second question is a yes also however a better idea will be to talk to your admins and ask them if they do log ur site visits and find out whats legal and whats not.

Its not that he is surfing porn or anything illegal like that. Just that there are some dark secrets which would be revealed if the "students" at the servers get to know the site he visits....
I heard about them anonymous IP services, any good?
College server as in a regular server. Only thing is that it is administered by senior students who could spoil the name of the one in question. Anyway, thanks for all the replies guys.
