well for paging file optimisation i suggest you take a look at this:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/paging_file.htm

also, do a repair installation from ur winxp sp2 cd to remove linux boot loader or if you are comfortable wid recovery console the, then get the rec. console up and running and type fixmbr.

also, enable dma and write caching in windows. make sure pci bus master is enabled in bios. remove any unused startup progs in windows.

Do this :
Go to mycomputer(rightclick)>manage>storage>local storage>Now delete the unknown identified partitions...

For boot loader...
If u got a WIN xp install disk then go boot into it and go to the repair console of the installation on ur primary drive and type FIXMBR.

If u dnt have one... DONT reboot directly after erasing lnx partitions...
Instead install osl 2000 boot manager and uninstalll it immeadiately...
Now reboot and Voila! no SUSE !

One thing for sure...u dont need that much page file...U shd hav 1.5 times the ram but its not applicable for pcs with 512 or more ram.So reduce ur page file manually to 512 mb coz si soft sandra sees this a s a problem..
Scan ur pc for spyware..virus nd dont run unnecessary progs in background.
The best thing is to reinstall ur os.U shd get optimum performance after that.Another thing..dont install un necessary programs..coz too much programs makes the os slow.
Another thing use a light on resource antivirus software such as avg, antivir and avast.

um..... i think the problem was with the partitions.... i had 5 partitions from which two were of linus without any drive name...... i just deleted linux and just combined everything.... did a defrag.....virus scan.....deleted spyware..... uninstalled unnecesary s/w cleaned my startup... set the limits for page file.. and VOILLA decent performance boost.....

One thing u can do that use spaywerw and antywires and remove unnesesry sofwere u instal in ur pc if after that there would be not much effect then the best opstion is that u can backup ur data and formet ue drive which have os and all the softwere and then reinslat it.
ofter reinstaletion instal only relevent softwere which u used comenly. put some spase in ur harddrive coz as load incress on hardrive there would be some loos of perfomence.
don't put lots of songs in ur deive if u want to store them the us cd and dvds i think it wil be better for ur pc.
