Actually most of the audio we deal with is 2.1.
Did he try true 5.1 audio ?
No h/w settings need to be done.
Only s/w is to be configured but that is done automatically by Sound Max once u plug in any new audio device.
Make sure the jacks are identified(i.e. u have to tell soundmax which jack is put in which hole)

Check out creative dot com for 5700 digital. It has got an external decoder.

Now whats this true 5.1 audio ? Does this mean that a normal audio (song) wouldnt be palyed on a 5.1 system ?
He has XP so identification should have been done automatically.

I was talking about Audio CDs & mp3 which people mormally deal with & listen to most of the time.
For these songs u would get sound from front satellites & woofer.
True 5.1 is like Doom3, any original DVDs.

deathvirus
that is what I wanted to tell cyrux. Did he try those that u mentioned.
