Default Making an FTP Server and remote accessing

Hi!

I use Bulletproof Ftp server and a hathway internet connection (LAN connection internet).

I created a ftp server but my friends who use other isp for net connection cannot connect to my server.

When i checked my ip address through bulletproof ftp server it showed my ip and some remote ip address which is different from my ip address.

Can anyone help me setup my ftp server.

Also how do i remote access a computer in KOLKATA sitting here in MUMBAI. The system in KOLKATA runs Windows 2000 server and the system in MUMBAI uses Windows XP. Which services shouold be started in the KOLKATA system and which software should be used in MUMBAI system.

Please help me with my problems. I will be very greatful to the one who helps me.

I have a static IP its 192.168.166.xxx. its a shared connection provided by hathway. The remote IP is 202.88.xxx.xxx. My friends on the lan connection can connect to my FTP server but not anyone else on other net connection. I think u need some ip routing enabled maybe.

your isp has to provide port forwarding to allow connection from a server outside their network.

Your ip is private IP. Since 192.x.x.x is reserved for private. Most probably you r behind a firewall. And 202.88.x.x is a public ip.
You can use Remote Anything. They have a feature, Directory Server, whcih useful to control the pc behind firewall.
Directory Server should be install on Gateway to do NAT between private IP and Public IP. Download is also small, around 300KB. But trial version is only for 5 mins and only one pc can be connected at a time.
