now the conventional best option is if ur local cable network has the LAN set up for thei Internet... & ur frnds r in the same network.... or if u r all in the same BSNL exange & which has BB.... then u can connect to each other if u know their IP address....

now otherways it gone b very very costly as i need to set up ur own network.... LAN or WLAN both will cost a lot.... & LAN will have its mentainence cost.... WLAN is very very costly 2 cover that 10 km range...

but u know what?? for ur kind a use there is a revolutionary technic out there.... which use the Powerline as data carreing option... & u know the power lines r alread b seted up by ur power company.... so no neet for u to set up a CAT 5 network.... they claim that through their product u just have to plug a 3pin plug in ur wallmounted electriciti soket.... ur frnd doe the same.... thats it.... u r in a Ethernet network.... i dont know whether its product r available in India or not.... but cheak then out....

If u want to go for wlan, u must place wireless AP at regular intervals along the 10km distance.
To cover ten kilometers, u need this equipment that was shown in DEFCON, the hacker conference. That "wifi pistol" can detect networks 10km away and can login to them as well. But I doubt that it is up for sale.
So ur best bet is to go online and play by either one of u hosting the cs server. I guess u won't feel too much lag this way.

Naa I dont think that rifle is going up for sale, even if was the author of the thread is asking for the cheapest option.Even the last years mother invention at DEFCON ,Bluesnarfer pistol wasnt available for sale I guess.
Imho how he would define:cheap after looking at the prices of wi-fi gear which last long distances.

I believe your asking for much in too little which isnt possible unless your definitons dont meet mine.
