You already have this system?? or are u planning on buying this system?
its quite decent even for ur requirements....so u can go with it!
However u might want to consider Intel CPUs which are good at encoding / archiving...get a Hyperthreaded processor if u can...

intel > amd for graphic apps like 3ds max etc
take intel 64bit
amd doesn't even come close, amd beates intel mostly at gaming
also,don't you wanna game?
also,nvidia is the brand
geforce is one series
quadro may be another series
quadro, where will you find it ,won't it be too expensive?

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...on64-90nm.html

approx prices and suggestions(you should)cross check by others and sites
Intel 3.0ghz + Asus 925 = abt 16.5-17k

RAM
get 2gb, 1gb X 2 or 512mb X 4 ,which ever is better
get DDR 2 533(preferably 667)
Corsair value Select 512mb ddr 2 533(maybe) abt 3700-3800(check if there is tax) similiary for ddr 2 667(you check etc) for abt 4500.

transcend ddr 2 533 might be for abt 4k
or if 915mobo are not as expensive and perform equal and have no onboard video then consider it
ddr ram may be cheaper

HD:160gb seagate sata ncq,abt 4150
200gb seagate sata ncq,abt 5500(may be faster)
can you afford raid?
do you want more space?
can you afford western digital raptor drives?
are sata II available?

antec sl 450(with 25A on +12va line),abt 4100

geforce 6600gt/6800/6800gt or quadro euivalents or better ones
256mb vram
xfx / asus for abt 14k when i had went to buy 6600gt 128mb

Default mobo

Hey go for MSI RS480M2-IL (939 socket) mother board.

I think this is the best motherboard with an onboard videocard.

This mobo is always suggested by digit, it has won best to buy gold award by digit.

so go for this board.

this board is not recommended for graphical and designing work. it is just a budget solution for people looking for onboard video. plz dont suggest things which u r not even sure of and digit reviews are crap.

@vraja4u
what is the point of getting a sli board when u r buying only a single card ? i suggest u go for an intel platform. go for intel pentium d or intel pentium 4 630 (3.0 ghz , 2 mb l2 , 800 mhz fsb) and an intel 955 chipset board. get as much of ddr2 as much possible. (1-2 gb) (667 mhz preferred) and buy a nvidia quadro card. these cards are specifically made for graphic intensive work. and i suggest the samsung magic bright 2 monitor 17". its real easy on the eyes and fun. dont go for lite-on drives (of late they are becoming notorious) , go for benq or sony instead. and hey which harddisk are u planning to buy ? go for a seagate sata n.c.q 160 gb or get 2*80 gb sata n.c.q's and use them in raid.

if u are going for asus a8n sli delux then i dont think u need to go for cretive sound card as the mother board has suppoort for 8 channel audio which is good enough so u save on the sound card

ASH18MARCH:There is a lot of difference .no matter how better onboard solution u have , try listing to mp3's with a 50 Rs headphones on a SB Audigy 7.1 , u ill understand the difference.I dont think he is looking for a cost effective solution. One thing , he never opted for a good set of speakers.

akshayt : There is not a "Huge" difference between a Pentium4 630 and an adjacent A64 in Video and graphics , Overall performer is AMD at the moment.
