Default how much wattage power supply do i need


i have a pIII 1GHz processor with intel original motherboard, i have a dvd rom, 1 cd writer, a 80 gb hard disk and a geforce 4000 mx graphics card.
i have a power supply with 250 watt rating from kobian. is it sufficient for my config, i have been experiencing problems of late.

Problems include suddenly turning off the computer, while the motherboard's led keeps glowing. another problem is that the cd writer is detected by the os, but no cd gets get detected on insertion.

Hmm... doesnt seem that the problems u r experiencing are due to ur SMPS! Anyway, 250 Watts is a little on the lower side . If buying a new SMPS, go for at lest 350 Watts though 300 Watts should be enough. But plan for the future!!!

i would recommend 300Watts minimum !!! Hey Check the Wires if there r connected properly !!! And Get ur Cd- writer Lens Cleaned Could be that the lens is unclean !!!

Front panel LED connections are not proper. See the motherboard's manual n fix them correctly.

For u r config i think that is enough most probably the SMPS wires are not fixed to MOBO properly ...

Experianced the same problem once. Turned out to be faulty SMPS.
