Go for at least 2.8 Ghz. And have a look at AMD Athlon64 too. Its a wonderfull precessor.

Make sure ur RAM is DDR 400 RAM (go for kingston or corsair)

For hard disk, DO NOT GO FOR SEAGATE! Go with Maxtor or Western Digital. Seagate is CR@P.

For DVD writer, go for Samsung or LG, dont go for Sony, its giving problems.

For gfx card, try going for gainward 5200. its better than XFX.

Any more help needed, then post back!

And please the most compromised part is the SMPS. Go for a good one. At least 350 Watts try for antec or mercury.

No AMD is WAY more better than intel these days! You will get a price difference of about 2000-3000 bucks for the same speed btw intel and amd, the amd bein cheaper.

Hmm... Stick wid the 5200. Its the best value for money. As i said, go for gainward, it will be around 400-500 RS costlier than XFX but it is worth it cuz its more overcloackable. And yes AMD is the best processor for gaming!

My config:

AMD Athlon64 2800+ (754 pin)
512 MB DDR400 Kingston RAM
MSI K8NM M/B
32 MB ATI Rage Pro gfx card
Maxtor Dimond Max Plus 9 SATA 120 GB HDD
1 GBps Lan Card
Sony Combo 52-32-52-16
