Can't update AVG Free Edition 7.0

I could not update my AVG Free Edition 7.0 in WinXP+SP2.The following eror message always appear after completion of the internet updates:

"Update was unsuccessful. Can not initialize the update interface. Installation of AVG Free Edition is probably damaged. Please reinstall AVG Free Edition."

But reinstallion did not resolve the problem. Please help.

No, the suggestions they gave me on the forum did not help at all. I, therefore uninstall AVG and downloaded AntiVir and used it instead. It works really fine.
