Default Burning photos onto DVD

Help. Just installed new LG GSA 4163 dvd writer, and installed nero software, but opening from Nero startsmart does not give me option to use DVD writer for photos/videos. This is depite exactly same software working perfectly on brother's PC - we both on XP, but his is later version. The LG drive only shows up as DVD-RAM, not DVD RW. Any clues?

will try the idea of dis-connecting/reconnecting the drive. have already tried re-installing Nero, from both disc & 'on appro' from their website. All the other applicatione of Nero look ok; it's just the photos onto DVD that is missing - not even the icons for it.
