There is a software called dreamrender that was once given is Digit. It makes you desk look cool but you will get bored of it soon.
These kinds of softwares are not recommended for low performace PC's atleast pc's having anyting less than 256 mb ram.

VLC players...freeware

and BTW it wil suck your memory..increase ur ram for live desktop
