Default RAM UPGRADATION ADVICE

hallo friends,

please advice me with regards to ram upgradation.

system configuration:p 4 1.ghz ,intel 850 GB mother board
samsung RD ram 64mb two nos. 400Mhz (total 18 MB)

i want to upgrade to 256 MB. can i use ddr in place of rd ram?
there are four slots.one of my friend told me he could arrange one rd ram of 128 MB, 400mhz.will i be able to use the same?my doubt is since i have rd rams of 64 mbs,is it necessary to use 64 mb rd rams?

No u cannot club RD with DDR as both are different technologies.

You will have to buy a 256 MB RD RAM, your Mobo will not support DDR. Plus as gaurav said the bigger one in the first slot and the rest in descensing order thats the rest 2 64 MB RAM in the next 2 slots.

Discard your older ram and use one single dimm of whatever capacity you want.
The older ram will slow down your newer ram as they wll always work at the old rams bus speed.

The two ram can be of different speeds, given they are of same type (like RD, here). But the negative fact is that ur system will run on the speed, whichever is lower between them.
