Cannot update AVG 7.0

After running the internet update of AVG Free Edition 7.0, the following error message always appear:

"Update was unsucessful.
Can not initialize the update interface. Installation of AVG Free Edition is probably damaged. Please reinstall AVG Free Edition."

Reinstalling did not help.

It may be due malware present in your system. So I advice you to scan your PC for malware(with softwares like Adware etc).

I had the same problems many times. It was due to a virus that denied the update sequence . I removed it with KAV, Antivir then it worked perfectly.

Try it.

run your anti-virus and anti-spyware in SAFE MODE to ensure detection AND removal of any posbl infection, and then try updating your avg.

I thought of downloading and installing AVG Free Edition because of rave reviews. But if it needs KAV support I would rather install KAV even if is a shareware

This is first time I am hearing one anti virus needing the support of another anti virus to do its job.
