can we format c drive

I have window xp proff sp2 in c and d drive both partition. Now from d drie i want to format c drive to install xp again. but it wont allowed me to format. Is it possible

U can't because the OS is probably running from the C drive. Use XP install disc to boot up and format C drive and re-install Xp, all your installed softwares will be deleted, even if they are installed on other drives they won't work, you need to reinstall them.

PS-To format C drive from D you need to first boot to the XP that is installed in your D drive even that might not work always. Best is to use XP install disc.

If so, try to boot into the OS installed on D:
