Cool Memory usage: RAM


how much memory RAM does a 200MB file can use in windows XP?
is it equal to 200MB or double of it = 400MB?
please explain the concept behind this..

I think that the 200MB file can use much more than 200MB if its an compressed file e.g. an EXE file.

You will find that simple Mozilla Firefox explorer is around 20MB. But when it runs.....it takes around 40+MB.

So file format does matter & so also the plugins required by the file to run.
All the plugins will also get loaded in to the RAM.

^^that is because it loads lot of content from internet and not because it expands itself.

I think only the OS can asnwer this ques....!! Lolzz.....!!!

Nyway it depends on the program and how the OS is handling tat file. If OS keeps swapping the parts 4m virtual memory keeping the essential part in RAM the usage will b much less. Completely depends on OS.


Correct me if I'm wrong.....
