Default task manager disabled!!??!!

hi...
yesterday i by chance opened a file downloaded from eMule title "batman begins - script" it was a .rar file when i extracted the file i did a virus scan with NAV2005....
i opened the .exe file and my computer hung for about a second or two then came up some stupid p2p software which was trying to dial a germany based number..... i saw the the text written on the software was in german.......
when i tried the traditional way of [ctrl]+[alt]+[del] it gave me an error... task manager has been disabled by your administrator....... now the thing is I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR!!!! how do i fix this...... the p2p software messed up with some registry??

for full solution to problem, post your HijackThis Log

for the time being .. enable task manager by
start -> run -> type "gpedit.msc" ->
User Config -> System -> Ctrl+Alt+Del Options -> Remove Task Manager ( disable it )

run any good anti-virus in safe mode or schedule a boot-time scan of avast anti-virus. also schedule a boot-time scan of spybot or pestpatrol or run ms anti-spy or adaware in safe mode. also think of uninstalling the p2p temporarily to rectify the problem.

um.... i run windows xp and the run window just wont run gpedit.msc.......

and wut is hijackthis.....

about task manager ::
are you running xp home version? gpedit is probably absent in home version
do this :- open run dialogue and type "regedit" (hope this opens)
go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System
and create a new DWORD entry (if its not already there) called DisableTaskMgr" and put its value to be 0

about your hijackthis log::
i think its clean except the HOSTS entries. im not sure if they're problematic or not.
you can make a backup of hosts file (it located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc ) and then delete all entires of HOSTS file.

download the 'enable task manager' tweak (near sr no 51)
use it.
