Seagate 7200.12 is not having any issues. you can go for it or you can go for Western Digital.

I've never heard anyone having any hard disk issues. in Kolkata, nothing other than Seagate is available, so I assume everyone I know is using Seagate hard disks.

IMO go for WD...seagate 7200.12 is not having any such issues so you can settle with that too...if you looking for the warranty services then both WD & SG has got excellent RMA services...so buy any of these..
1 more thing why you want to go for 500 GB when you can get WD 640 GB for few bucks more...think about it...
