Default PATA or SATA

Hi ,

My config is:

AMD 64 bit 3000+

ASUS A8N-E

1 GB (Transcend)

400 W SMPS

17" Samsung monitor

LEADTEK PX 6600 GT TDH EXTREME (128 MB)

Hard disk drive=Samsung 40 GB 5200 RPM(PATA)..(I am upgrading my PC..so the old HDD)
I am an extreme gamer

Since my budget is very tight..I have two choice:-

which should i choose
1) "1 Gb+5200 RPM (PATA)" or
2) "512 MB+ 7200 RPM HDD (SATA)"
..i am an extreme gamer

Remember I am a hard core gamer

Since ur budget is really tight, i would recommend u to go in for more of RAM as today's games r RAM hungry and the sata and the pata would not make much of a difference bro ! but since its a tough decision to make considering ur budget u can go in for the 1 GB RAM and 5200 PATA HDD,

cheers n e-peace.... mate....

I think by the time longhorn comes out 512 MB will be bare minimum and ddr fast fading to ddr2 or ddr3 so better go in for 1 GB now and 40 GB is enough if u can put most of the stuff on cd/dvd. plus 1 GB RAM should compenste for the slower rpm of ur HDD.

i think the performance difference bet 5.2k rpm(pata) and 7.2k rpm(sata) is equal to the performance diff between 512mb and 1gb ram.

what ram u have now? and what hdd?

sata drives are worth it. The speed difference is quite noticable.......

here in mumbai, SATA drives costs 100 to 200 bucks more than their PATA cousines...

I belive ur dealer will forgive that differeence if u go for 1 gb ram and a SATA drive.
