Disk doctor prob plz help

I have norton sys works 05 installed in win xp pro os. whenever i start the norton disk doctor to start hdd check i get a message saying that the os or a prog has exclusive access to this drive and disk checking can't continue under these conditions. plz suggest a way to check using disk doc and is it good to format hdd once every 6 months??

Do u have Zone Alarm in ur system ?? I'd guess ti shud be due to a firewall

ya i have zone alarm pro 5.5.094. cud tat be playing any role in tis

Uninstall that and try

Is there no other option coz i cant uninstall entire firewall for a disk check
