Default RAM And Hard Disk Doubts

I Finally decided to change to aMd and decided to buy the Asus A8N-E Motherboard. I had two doubts.

1. I already have 1GB DDR Ram in my present system running at 400Mhz and Everest Home Edition says that the latency timings of the RAM is 3-3-3-8. I wanted a better performance RAM, so could someone advise me what to look for and which is the best timings. I wanted to buy the best DDR Ram out there in india so if some one could mention a dealer and their phone number it would be nice

2. The catalogue said the motheroard supports SATA II will there be a problem if i use my existing SATA hard disks. Are there any SATA II Hard disk in india?? Which Brand?? Where can i get it??

One ore doubt not related to the topic, will there be a performance drop when i use two programs at the same time between amd and intel??

1. the best ram modules that u can get are corsair low latency or kingston hyper x modules. go for 2*512 mb of these and u will get gr8 perfomance. they will be expensive though but will give u the best perfomance.

2. sata 2 is backward compatible with sata so u will not face any probs.

and there will be no perfomance drop if u use more than 2 progrms at the same time with amd. dont worry.

if your mobo supports

consider corsair xms 2X512mb pc 4400 cas 2-2-2-5 for abt 16-17k

also, don't go for corsair value select with your mobo unless you are sure the ram issue has been solved, has it been solved yet?
