Default new hard disc


I am planning to buy a 160 gb hard disc .
first i have a intel 845 d chipset based motherboard so will it support the 160 gb hard disc ?

and i am planning to use it to copy a lot of data and also i am going to write a lot of cds and dvds . and games and video editing . so should i go for 2 mb or 8 mb version and which brand ?

please advice ,

COME ON GUYS . NOBODY IS RESPONSING. ANYWAYS I WANT A PATA BASED HARD DISC.
I AM GOING FOR A 160 GB - 8 MB CACHE BUFFER SIZE MODEL .

NOW I HAVE THREE CHOICES

1. WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIER SE - 3 YEARS WARRANTY

2. SEAGATE BARACUDAA 7200.7 PLUS - 5 YEARS WARRANTY

3. MAXTOR DIAMOND MAX 10 - 5 YEARS WARRANTY

I AM PURCHASING IT TOMMORROW ONLY SO PLEASE ADVICE AS WHICH WILL BE THE BEST IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE , RELIBILITY AND DURABILITY .

I'd recommend Seagate, its been a known brand and also has less complaints ..

For reliability which is the most important aspect of hd, go for seagate. Performances of them will be more or less same for identical rpm.

i hav been hearing alot abt western digital xcept the warranty thing....is it better above other hard disk....????

Better go in for Seagate HDDs as they hv gr8 reliability options and gr8 performance too !! for mre info do check in this:

many use or prefer seagate.... i really must confess i havent heard of western fig......

frankly even i never heard of "WESTERN DIGITAL"!!
well, if u really wanna go for that, please make sure that they enough after sales support. i think it's no way near to samsung or seagate.

my suggestion... Seagate(i would go for samsung, but there's no option in your case)

i think both seagate and samsung are equally good.

Well, Western Digital is a relatively new entry into the indian market, but according to many reviews it is better than Seagate, Samsung and Maxtor. Check out the reviews on the net.
If you are looking for the absolute best, go for Hitachi (formerly made by IBM). Hitachi is costly though.

yup guys.....actually..its lik amd at start ...no ads in begining new in market...but they r better..also on many sites hard core gaming persons config i saw this disk.....even here in this forum in keiths and 1 mor guy rig config i saw it.....so was jus asking abt its review.......and service supports in india......wht i hav heard is its indeed better than seagate /samsung(but the sources r not indian market).................................
well i will definately buy a seagate disk now....becoz my new samsung disk was lost in 6 months(pin damage)...got replacement with 750 bucks...new disk...which now developed bad sectors......bad luk 4 me...

And as u said its a new entrant... How did u analyze that its better than the other brands.. U havent posted a link for the reviews...

It would be really stupid if someone were to buy a new thingy which has entered the mkt rather than purchasing an existing brand.
