AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ (939 PIN) - 7500/-
MSI RS480 M2 - 5000/-
80 GB SEAGATE SATA N.C.Q - 3000/-
256*2 (512 MB) DDR400 ZION - 2400/-
LOGITECH MM KB/OPTICAL MOUSE - 1000/-
LITEON CD-RW - 1450/-
SAMSUNG 17" MB2 - 8500/-
ANY CABINET WITH 350W SMPS - 1400/-
TOTAL = AROUND 30K.
Get any good speakers (2.1) for around 1300/- and also get a good UPS such as Numeric 600VA which will cost around 2050/-

heyy i guess da one mohit has suggested is da best u can get for 30k.else u can eva do one thin instead of going for a onboard graphic u can go for Asus K8N (NForce3) mobo wid any decent PCI-E card like 5300 it is any day betta then onboard GPU of 480m2 mobo but for dat i guess u hav to spend few more bucks or u can settle wid da same one which mohit has suggested.

for abt 30-40k you get only entry level gming pc not a medium pc
what you get is some thing just better than total crap
but here goes
isn't athlon xp 32bit,go for 64bit.
s754
amd 2800 64bit + asus k8n,abt 10k
512mb ddr 400 corsair or what ever is supported by corsair value select isn't ,check compaitibiltiy ,my mobo has issue, asus a8n-e,3abt 3k
160gb sata ncq seagate ,4150
128mb radeon 9600pro/xt or geforce 6200 atleast, only 128bit or higher cads memory interface
17"crt monitor if you can afford it then true-flat

do you want to play only the mid range intensive games that too at 640*480 ,low/lowest settings at just barely playable settings
with a 17" monitor,640*480 may not be acceptable that well
also, consider 793mb samsung if you want to

@anshumanarora man juz go for MSI RS480M2 its quite gud at dat price.dun hav the best onboard grafix but still u can play all the latest games as i hav been playing but i hav said dis dis thin b4 and again repeating it if posible go for asus NForce3 chipset wid any decent grapix card it will b betta then dat of MSI mobo.samsung 17'' magic brite2 is the best 17inch monitor in the market till date...

i am wid u aniruddh. akshayt plz dude dont try to simply suggest stuff to people man. not everyone has a mammoth sized budget and some people are very very happy playing at low/medium settings coz thats what is in their budget. u alwaz seem to blow the budget out of proportion for many many users and u suggest crap at times , like here u r suggesting magic brite monitor while i have already suggested magic brite 2 which is much better than magic brite. by doing such things, u r just confusing people out here instead of helping them. i hope u improve.

160GB may not be required and doesnt fit in the budget.80Gb is pretty good.
As the config has COMBO drive he can just burn the data from the hardisk.
Then later after 6months or so he can purchase one more 160GB hardisk and run it RAID 0 mode.

choice is really with him now . in 1k more he can either go 4 a 160gb hdd or a dvd writer . completely at his discretion , if he can stretch his budget that much
m talking bout a dvd writer here coz blank cds n blank dvds cost me the same , n a dvd has 6.5 times the space of a cd so it would b cheaper in the long run
