New rig help needed urgently

Hi guys. Kaustubh here.same old question. sorry for starting a new thread.

well i want to buy a new rig basically for playing games and animation purpose.

taking everything in considerations i have made up my mind on buying an INTEL sys.due to its HT tech. am i right? OR shud i go for AMD?

i have enlisted the components.

P4 3.0 ghz HT

915 pci-e.(or should i stick to 865.)

1gb ram (bought the hynix before for Rs.4100 i.e 512*2 (for 2050*2))

a really cool cabinet (approx Rs.1500)

good optical mouse and keyboard(basically for animation i.e maya and 3ds max)

a graphics card may be geforce 6600 pci-e(gettin for Rs.5800 donno the company though) or 6600gt.(budget Rs.12000)

good 2.1 speakers(having a sony 8500W home theater at home so no need of a 5.1)

sony dual layer dvd writer(Rs.4500)

17" svga monitor.(not goin for lcd coz having one at home and is not suitable for animation purpose)

also please mention the other components missed by me.

also i live in PUNE. so PUNEITES ur help would be most welcomed and needed the most.

This motherboard may not support your ram but it will preobably support orignal hynix d43 chips,check out
sellyour ram and buy 2 X 512mb ddr 400 hynix d43 orignal chips for dual ch for abt 5750

Microsoft Internet Keyboard Black for 480 or something
Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse Black for 450 or Microsoft MS Optical Wheel mouse with better cencor if you can find it for abt 800/850

who is giving 6600 for 5800?

as far as i m concern stick wid the config which akshayt has suggested its gonna ba real gud rig.well i dun think u shud go for 865mobo nor 915.else if u can wait and if its in ur budget wait for dual core and 955 chipsets.but da config akshayt hav suggested i'll suggest u to go for dat one.now its all up 2 u wat u wanna do.X800 is damn expensive and wen u'll b using a Nforce4 chipset then instead of going for a nvidia card why ATI?go for samsung 17'' magic brite 2 its really awesome.APC ups is really gud fr sum where around 3k but u can eva consider numeric which will cost u sum where around 2k i dunno much bout nueric but heard bout it from mohit dat its gud.go for 600VA ups not less then dat.also 450w smps.for ram corsair,kingston r damn gud wid 400mhz which will cost u sam where 6.2k for 1 gb.

let get this clear ur main purpose is 3d ie working with maya 3d studio max this softwre aree pretty intensiveon not only ur graphic card but also on system ie ur ram and ur processor now first of ditch the intel i i have valid reason intel is good for muti tasking ie opning sevral application at one time also unless u go for xenon intel is 32 bit a 64 bit processor is god for such imemory intensive application pluse u will be future proff also
ther fore go for amd 64 bit 3200or 3500 and a good motherboard for same
second thing is ur ram i think crosair would be better for such appliction
also hynex is not as godd as crosair try to get it u spen some bucks more but it will be worth it
also ur graphic card to tell u the truth 6600 will not perform well with maya
see this are gaming card they are not ment to give the desire performance this appliction go for a work station card like qudro 4000 if u are serious in this but they are expensive or u can goo for a agp not pci version of 6800 gb256 mb not for pci verson that is the utra card the reason is u can soft mod the card to perform like a qudro using the riva tuner avilable in www.guru3d.com this will give u best of both world games as well 3d aplliction switch to witch one u want but for that u will have to find mobo with agp slot or u can settel for just 6800 utra though i am not sure of its performance with maya as it is shaky at least that what i have heard about it in www. cgtalk.com under the hard ware and technical section i am also in the same bat as u are so best of luck
