well as u said u wanna sli mobo in which u can put 2 graphic card at one time so if u r going for 2 cards then only go for a sli mobo other wise go for Asus A8N-E its a NForce4 chipset its the best mobo u can get for AMD in the market today eva ya the sli mobo to wid 2 gpu slots.if u go for a sli mobo u can go for 2 6600gt 128MB card that will cost u some where around 22k.but as u want 6800 which is sumwhere around 26k for 1 gpu or may b more then that if u can den dats the best.yaa u r rite AMD mobo dun support DDR2 rams.Athlon 64 4000+ 90nm well i doubt but still u can try for it u mite get it.heyy u r talkin bout View sonic no?y hav written sony nywayz i guess instead of that u betta go for samsung 17'' Magic brite 2 any day betta then that of view sonic infact dis is the best 17'' u can get in the market.u can go for either microsoft optical mouse which is the best and will cost so around 800 bucks or else go for logitech.well i dun hav much idea bout sound cards and speaker i m sure other will tellu soon.

thank u for ur adivce love to get some more advice on this to clear up the sitution as the rivalry is increasing between intel and amd the commen user is being left in a total state of confusion now take for example before you just had to make a choice of processor mbod and that then u choose a ddr ram and u are done but now the situation is totaly changed especially if one wants to upgrde take for example like i want to
if i go with a intel 64 bit proceesor i would reqire to buy a motherbord whcih supports it +woul need to buy ddr2 ram say 1gb price wise the proceesor is cheap but performance wise ther is a lot to be desired
now if i go for a amd 64bit fx2 i buy the mother board dut right now i would have to do with ddr ram since ddr2 is not supporte and performance wise ther would be no hitch but price would be high but just in a 1 year things would change amd will be coming with ddr3 motherbords long horn will be coming then ther would be a real problem because longhorn is rumored to be a quit memory intensive so say combining with 3d appliction like maya it would realy alow down the program i read in www.anadtech.com that future appplication like longhorn will reqire a sytem with atleats 2 gd ddr
ram to function smoothly and by that time ddr will be phased qut like sd ram or would become very expensive
so one might again have to upgrade intel qwner would agin have to buy a mobd which allow s ddr3 and amd owner also will have to upgrde mobd = ddr3 if the want to stay with time on the top the pic and pcx problem this is a mess this is what atwhat i think for people who want to upgrade now only solution it seems if u are amd guy is to buy atleat 2 to 3 gb ram ddr to delay the next upgrade and still be with the time and still work with intensive appliction and games this is just a thought please fell free to give ur own opnion or crit

It would be better for you if you dont think about the future much.
It best if one stays away from that vicous circle of upgrading blues and future compatibility of softwares and blah blah.
You can never be future proof.

Get the A64,you can add upto 4GB ram to it,that shud solve your longhorn query.

Hmm, for 3D a Dual CPU System will help more then a Geforce 6800 Ultra or radeon X850

I say, get a Pentium 4 3.4 GHz system with a 6600GT card, PCI-E & 1 GB RAM, that should do if U R a hardcore student, also it will smoothly play all games

for production line system, a Xeon 3 GHz or maybe Pentium D, Athlon64 is better then Pentium in gaming only, for Max & Maya stick to intel

I second gxsaurav's suggestion of pentium over A64. Since the OP is more towards 3d than gaming, a pentium will shorten that render time. This has been proved in almost every intel vs amd performance reviews.
Also, you won't need much more than a 6600gt for occational gaming. For grafx work, you will need all the ram u can get. So get 2 or even 4GB if u can. Also, get a good 19 incher for a monitor.
If u do want A64, get 3500+ or above
