Default DL DVDs

Do we have dual layer dvds in the mumbai market yet? If yes, how much? If no, when?

Also do they work on the dvd writers we get in market?? A friend has an LG dvd writer which he got for around Rs. 4K...how to make out if it supports DL DVDs???

Every drive supports DL now since the past year or two. I seen ads for double sided dvd's for rs 150 but not Double layer which is still expensive @ $10-$20 per disk..

Unfortunately, most Combo/DVD drives (not DVD-RW drives) can NOT read DL DVDs correctly. My Samsung Combo doesnt, and my Sony didnt either.

There is a big difference between pressed movie DVD's made for commercial purposes and writable DL-DVD's. Any DVD drive can play the pressed DL discs easily. It is only when you try to play written DVD-DL's that yopu will have problems.

Can you buy one and check if it is original Verbatim media? Because 75 bucks seems too cheap for it.

It's a cheapo. Not a branded one . It's like the rs. 15 DVD-R.
Even shiva asked abt this (yesterday via PM). Thats not a big shop, it's in front of a "complex" where he sells CDs and DVDs. I am sure if I can tell the location correctly.. but he also sells the DVD DL Verbitem for rs. 550.
