Default Suggestions for buying a notebook.

Folks,

I have planned to buy a laptop. I am working as a peoplesoft administrator so I might need to install peopletools and other stuffs.

Configuration I am looking for is 2GB Ram, 130+GB HDD, preferably intel core duo processor. Price should be affordable.

1. What brand or model would you suggest?

I am from India, Chennai so kindly talk in INR.

Another clarification, as you guys would have aware the Wipro has announced 20K notebook [Brand name : ego] - www.egobywipro.com
with a super configuration and as per my requirement except the processor [Atom].

2.How much speed variation between Atom and Dual core?

3. In case is it possible to use dual core in the ego notebook?

4. Where is the Dell showroom at Chennai?

I am no expert in these hardware stuffs, so kindly help me.

Also if this is not the right section, I request the moderator or Admin to move this thread to the resepective place.

Thanks,
Sridhar.

Hi desiibond,

Thanks for your reply.

Between 30k-35k should be feasible! However this ego laptop looks to be much cheaper. If not ego, Dell would be my choice. Kindly provide me the details.

Thanks,
Sridhar.

Thanks Naveen.

In case if you are from Chennai, do you know where is Dell showroom located?

Dell official website or Google has failed to give this information.

Thanks,
Sridhar.

dont fall for the retail shops which promise u to get dell laptop..

dell has showrooms only in delhi and .... ( i forgot ) just two only ...

but its very easy ... just order online.. a manager will call u . he will confirm , then u have to take the d.d and send.. ur laptop will be there within 3-4 days

it ships from sriperumbadur... u know the dell comany there ...

but it's worth the wait.

Don't fall for local sellers and you won't be able to get proper warranty.

Go for Dell Studio or Dell Inspiron and request for quotation online. They will take care of the rest (except for D.D)
