sony dvd writer problem

my sony dvd r/w is giving me problem...its reading dvd/cd but didnt writing...have tried alcohol/nero/ashampoo....when i insert blank cd/dvd...my computer started hanging...why its happening n what to do


mine system is win xp sp3
c2d 2.66
4gb ram
250 gb hard disk

Have you tried cleaning the lense?
If, not clean it first, then try writing DVDs.

Al right...
U clean ur lense by a lense cleaner. Go to any computer shop and ask for DVD lense cleaner.

U place the lense cleaner in ur DVD Writer and follow the instructions provided there.

Also try using different CD/DVD media after cleaning the LENS. Sometime it's media problem
