whenever i get online
and log into my yahoo messenger

it indicated that i have messages in my in box and when i click on the link for messages my comp shows the deraded blue screen and somrtimes even restarts itself

does it have any relation to the fact that my times and date is not correct due to drained out CMOS battery

i am using ver 6
OS is win 98 (2)
the blue screen shows following message

An exceptional OE has occured at 0028:w01ac86 in VxD NDIS (01) +
00003112.this was called from 0028:c644474 in VxD PPPMAC(04) +00007B14

and worst thing

some vireus called

bloodhound is troubling me
whenever i type google or yahoo
in address bar it takes it to some top 10 search site and my anti virus
norton starts detecting this virus
it tells that it has deleted the file but then norton goes into dos screen and my comp hangs pllllllzzzz reply soon

The false time setting can affect crashes but it depends how the software handles them. See if it is repeatable and you are sure that the battery is dead why not replace it? before trying any thing.
