Problem in RAM

Hi ppl,

I found out the problem for unexpexted restarting of the PC.

Its the RAM.
Although the BIOS detects the total memory of 512mb and there is no physical damage in the RAM, why is the system restarting.

I use a ASUS p4p800-vm mobo, i think the ram is not compatible with my mobo.

Shall i change the bios setting for RAM.

DRAM frequency : AUTO, shall i change this to 400 (My ram is PC3200)
Shall i change the cas latency also to make my ram work.
Help me???

if u have pc 3200 ram then change the auto setting in the bios to 400 mhz .. dont mess with the latency settings for now , let the ram run at the rated timings ... also if u suspect ur ram to be the culprit then run memtests 86 and check ur ram for errors. you can also see the list of compatible ram modules for ur board from the asus website .. but even if ur ram is not on the list , dont worry as they dont test all the ram in the world with each n every board.

Well also try clearing CMOS.
Then as suggested above,try setting RAM speed manually to 400 but before that i would recommend booting into windows and check whether RAM runs at 400Mhz.
You can check using this utility -
CPU-Z

Also see if dust has accumalated on the RAM slot where the RAM is installed,if yes clean the dust off and also clean the RAM with soft cloth.
