Default how to connect a...


hi
i have a laptop and a comp and would like to connect them through lan.how do i do this??the os on both the comps is win xp.i tried once and couldn't get it.

1) open thinkdigit.com/forum ( which u already have by now )
2) click on tutorials section
3) search for digen's post on how to connect a LAN
4) when u have problems post in QnA section with specifics
so what problem are u having ?

when i try to connect them togethere i get a mssg on the desktop pc that the lan hardware is disconnected, but i can connect to the net.i use a broadband connection.so that means that the ethernet card is connected isin't it

check your cable. i hope you are using a cross cable for direct computer connection.

hey man i have the same config too but my lappy is running on winme and desktop is winxp / win98se / mandrakelinux 10.1 . i have used a cross cable, but i have one silly doubt y'day. I have a tata indico walky, and it has a data cable with one RJ45 jack at one end and a serial port the other end. so can i connect the serial port end to my pc and RJ45 end to my lappy to do data transfer ? which protocol shoul i use ? pls advise .....

in xp go to control panel click phones and modems

then add one

select dont detect

then select communication cable between two computers

then ok ok ok

btw the conection connection could be slow
