Default temperature


I have a AMD XP 2400+ on Msi KM-4ML
Xfx 128 ge forcefx 5200 G card
80GB samsung hard disk
512 MB RAm

MY cpu temperature goes upto 85 c under normal usage.
Please help.

that's way beyond the ideal temperature range.
please check your CPU fan speeds and see if the heatsink is properly fit or not.

Try updating your BIOS. It maybe reporting wrong temps.

Remove HSF. Clean both the HS and Proc surfaces thoroughly. Apply some thermal compound and reseat the HS.

Before you shoot any further queries, search for similar threads in this forum. There are quite a few.
