Default 16 bit MS-dos Error solved - Anwser

thanx anna_don

\Worked fine and the ms-dos subsystem is up and running fine. DO you know how this problem was caused in the first place >>> ??

Thanks once again

If any one else has this problem try this out and Hope it works

Go to Windows subdirectory repair , ie C:\WINDOWS\repair , and just copy the .nt files , ie *.nt to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory. It should work out.

But jsut to be on the safe side , Does anyone know how this problem could be caused in the first place ??

Huzefa.

the problem might be caused to some incompatible software insatllations that made modification in the nt files

also some tweaks if u have done might be responsible for the error

any could be the problem?????

This is a very common problem. The solution you gave is correct, but one important step is missing.

After copying the *.nt file to \System32, you have to make them read-only. Otherwise, the problem reappears again and again.
