I-Mate pocket PC ROM upgrade Error !!

hi
i hve a I mate Pocket pc phone, today i hve tried to upgrade its ROM version by downloading from one of the web site.
i followed all the procedures but on the end i got message of Phone ID error on my desk computer and my handset is not working right now its showing on top of screen is SERIAL when i connect it on my desk computer it showing USB and the in bottom screen its showing V.1.00 i dont know how to make it on working condition. any one help me in this.

Which model? Where did u got the ROM?

i hve I Mate JAM and i got upgrade douwnload from this web site===http://www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk/support/rom_updates.htm .
after that i hve tried another version and found correct now my phone upgraded and working very good but i want to know one thing that, it's possible to upgrade operating software for this phone ? i mean could i upgarde Windows mobile 2003 second edition to higher version?
