Default URGENT: Gaming PC for 20-25k

hi friends,

I need a config for a gaming pc for around 20-22k which excludes monitor, ups, speakers and dvd writer.

Furthermore which LCD would be the best for around 8-9k (i think 19" would be gud enough) and also please suggest a decent ups that could serve me for a decent period of time

thanks

P.S. Preferably an Intel config... last resort would be going in for AMD

Phenom X4 9550 - 6800
Gigabyte 780G mobo - 4200
2x2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM - 2200
320GB SATA HDD - 2400
Good Cabinet and SMPS - 2500
Good KB+Mouse - 1500

Total: 19.6k

You can go for an Intel rig, but in addition to Processor+Motherboard, you will need to put about 10k (at least 6k) for a gfx card for decent gaming performance. So, your budget for proccy+mobo will be reduced... If you put Gigabyte G31 mobo for 2.5k and 6k for gfx card, your budget for proccy will be around 7k for which you will get E7300 at 6k...

My advice: go for AMD for your budget...

E7300: 5.5k
MSI P45 Neo-F: 5k or Gigabyte G31 based board for 2.5k-3k
Transcend/Kingston DDR2 800 2gig: 1200-1400
Palit 9600GT: 6k
Coolermaster 500W PSU: 3k (fit into your cabinet)

Does it matter if I use my 3yrs old cabinet (used to run 2.4ghz cel) + a new PSU for assembling the new setup which would save another 1000 bucks for my budget.

I think getting a E7300 + Gig G31 Mb = Rs 8.5k & the AMD config takes the budget upto 11k which im not in favour of. (If i get a noticeably better performing AMD combo at 8.5k then surely I would go for that)

A dedicated GPU is a must and i suppose i'd stick to 4850 which I heard is selling around 9k

PLease reply about the LCD & the UPS as well

thanx

19" ViewSonic - 8k and a APC 600VA for around 2k...
Get atleast a PowerSafe Silver 500W SMPS to handle that red monster,if u decide to buy it.

I dont mean a 500W PSU is necessary but will be future proof.

Don't you think that'll overshoot my budget to quite an extent... i was planning on getting a PSU for 2.5k-3k... Which one would you guys suggest

What is the approx price of Powersafe Silver 500W PSU cause I think I'll surely try to squeeze in the 4850 into the system somehow

What brand 4850 should I look for ?????????

for some 9k, go for Dell 198WFP or Samsung 943NWX.

you can try fitting the new PSU to your old cabinet. If it doesn't fit, then get Cooler Master Elite 330 cabinet (around 1.8k). You do need a PSU like corsair/coolermaster/tagan for HD4850.

For UPS, only APC

^^ he is thinking of getting HD4850. And for that, it's not a good idea to buy circle or any low efficiency PSU's.

I have been suggested by many gurus that I should seriously look at the AMD options as well therefore it'll be really helpful if you all could suggest some AMD config in the same budget which performs better in comparison to E7300 + G31 combo

^^okay. If you are looking for a rig without a graphics card and on a budget, amd is the way to go. But since you are certain to go for a graphics card, you need to get the best processor that you can buy and seriously, E7300 is one hell of a processor and it beats most of AMD X2's. The only good gaming processor from AMD that I can think of (inside 10k) is Phenom 9950 BE. But then again, it's beaten black and blue by E8200 (in gaming).

For someone who never does gaming or video rendering, Intel/AMD doesn't matter.

so E7300 it is + G31 mobo (preferably giga OR .....??) = 5.5 + 2.5 = 8k
2 GB Ram Transcend/ Kingston/Corsair = 1.5k
HD4850 = 9k
PSU = 2.5k (CM460 or CM 500 )
HDD 500GB WD = 3k

How is Powersafe for PSU's AND which brand of 4850 (Palit, etc.) should i particularly look in for...?

P.S. Does G31 mobo have onboard video?? (Just for the initial use until i source a decently priced 4850 from Delhi coz getting a 4850 in lucknow is near to impossible)

Powersafe is a good brand and it can handle 4850 w/o any hiccups. And at that price point(Silver 500W is 1.7k), Powersafe is a good buy.
If u wish to spend 3k on PSU, then go for what desii suggested. They were also good brands in the market, like former one.

Now that would suit me even better... Powersafe at 1.7k would have my pocket lighter by about 1k that i could invest in a decent cabinet.. Thanks a lot guys.. I think i have my stuff sorted out.

Regards

yep. Don't go for Intel original mobo. it's stable but you can't do much R&D on it. If you can't get it in your locality, try to get the mobo from itwares.

Same with HD4850, you can try to order it online from www.theitwares.com

The advantage that non-Intel mobo's have is that you can do lot of tweaking and overclocking.

You can get ASUS/Gigabyte/MSI mobo's.

I have been using Gigabyte mobo's for past 8years (first for PIII and then for Athlon 64). No problems at all till now.
