I forgot to mention that nero recognises the 800 mb cdr as 700mb cdr and hence does not allow me to write on to the cd.
pls help me out.
thanks!

When the Data you are writing on the CD or the image file from which you are burning is more than the capacity of Cd-R ( 702-703 Mb generally) then just prior of starting the burn process prompts a windows and asks whether you would like to overburn it. So try clicking yes in that window.

Make an .iso image of your data -

Ex: use UltraIso

Burn the image using -

Ex: Alcohol 120%, DVD Decryptor (ISO-->Write mode) etc.

I presume that you have Nero 6

You need to set nero overburning options.

You can find it under File>Preferences...
There you have CD overburn size option under "Expert Features". Set it to 90 min.

You can set Red and Blue markers under "General" tab of "Preferences".

Sorry I overlooked
But some settings must be there in 5.5 about overburning.

Else upgrade to Nero 6

Hi guys,
Thanks for the i/p.
Under preferences menu of Nero express 5.5, and under Expert features tab i enabled the overburn
'disc at once' burning.
here i gave Max CD length as 90 min.
I tried changing the yellow and red marker too.

But i still get the error...

"There is not enough space to burn this compilation onto this medium.
Please insert another medium that provides more space..."

I havent still tried the image option.(i'll try that and tell u the o/p).
are there other ways of burnin 800mb cd?

imag......there is topic where a guy explained in detail how to write in 800mb disk.............do search it......with 800mb as parameter...i followed that way bak........it worked but my drive failed at end and cd became useless...........nyways no one else had a prob...may b my drive may b defective.......

but according to me its better u forget overburning.......or using the 800mb disk.........it reduces the life of the disk....after try such things....my drive hav become slow..........
also with nero 6.6 u get an option where u can copy ard 715mb on 700mb disk.....

btw its jus my opinion...try atlest one if it works then its good...but if it doesnt (fails)...then 4 get doing so(upgrad to dvd writer).......btw try alchol i havent tried it but heard frm many ppl its good..........

dear ppl,
i have found the soln to my prob.
actually its NOT a COMPLETE soln.
OK,i wanted to burn a 780 mb movie file which was in .DAT format.
There are 2 methods to do this (according to me,that is)...
1. i used Nero(5.5),and tried burnin the cd using "create a data disk". it showed the error that the cd size is 700 mb and cannot accomodate 780 mb.So i culnt proceed with the burning altho i had 800 mb cd.
2.i used same Nero(5.5) and tried burning 780 mb usin "create a VCD". this time it analysed the file and brought the .dat file to less than 700 mb.(i dont know how this thing works...can anyone explain pls). anyways,i was more than happy as i cud write the cd on this 800mb cd for which i had spent 16Rs.ya,the same thing cud have been written on a normal 700mb cdr too.
well, thats abt it.A partial soln to my prob.it'll be great if i cud get the complete soln too.Have fun!

Data disk and VCD are totally different.

Data disks are meant to store binary files, like common files.
But VCD have a defined file structure. Also the data in VCD (Video file only) is stored in a compressed format with compression ratio of about 13%
Thus you can have a 780 MB video on a 700MB CD as a VCD.
But you cannot have 780MB file on a simple 700MB data CD.

actually the CD writer must support 800MB/90min CDs. I had a Samsung SW252 drive which claimed 2 be able to burn 800 MB CDRs. I bought one 800 MB Cd but it was not detected by my CD RW drive.. i got frustrated and then I tried the same CD on a friend's CD RW Drive (same SW 252 drive) but to my surprise the CD was detected but as a 703 MB drive and I was able to at least burn 703 MB of it successfully. Then I investigated tht mine drive was actually SW 252 S and his one SW252F...since both of us hv same OS/Drivers. Nero 6 etc..I concluded tht SW252S cannot detect 800MB CDRs....this is not good for SAMSUNG 2 mislead ppl. THe CD RW Cover BOx clearly suggested tht my CD Drive is able to detect/burn 800 MB CDRs.
