Default files names are in blue color

Hi,
In my windows xp sp2, suddenly i found so many files name converted into blue. I search into net, reason is if u don't use that file for long time it automatically compressed. I don't want this facility. How to disable this feature, plz tell me. second thing is, any of the pdf file which turns into bule file name, i am not able to open using acrobat reader 8. it says, either file is damage or not downloaded properly. but that is not a case. files are proper i know. now how can i uncomress again. note pad files open in notepad without any problem.

blue color -> compressed files
green color -> encrypted files

Open my computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> uncheck "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color" -> Apply -> ok

Also, the blue color maybe tat u must be having an NTFS partition (onto wich these files are stored) as files in an NTFS partition are also colored blue...

Cheers n e-peace...

NTFS partitions do not necessarily have Blue Coloured file names.

Its when u enable compression.

N compression is on the HW level where the actual file system works. When u use the file it acts like any other normal uncompresed file. The OS duznt require user intervention for compression/decompression.

The PDF files which r corrupted r in fact actually corrupted. Download them again man!!!

* Go to 'My Computer'
* Go to the drive/folder which you want to decompress.
* Right-click-->Go to 'Properties'
* If you're decompressing a whole drive then in the 'General' tab, you'll see at the bottom 'Compress drive to save disk space'
* Uncheck it and click 'OK'
* It'll take some time to decompress the whole drive contents as it applies the new attributes.
* On the other hand, if you're decompressing any file/folder then in the 'General' tab you'll see the 'Attributes' section.
* Click on 'Advanced'.
* There also uncheck the same option as mentioned above.
* There you have uncompressed file/folder/drive.
* Now they are listed in Black colour!!

That's it!!!!

And still if your PDF files don't work as I've told you earlier (and that certainly the case is), the files are themselves corrupted and you did the decompression in vain. So you'll have to get those PDF files again from where you got them....

Happy decompression session mate!!! B-)
