Default dvd riting woes ! ! !


i have a plextor dvd ritter ... working nice ..... wanna write a [4.4gb] dvd in NERO 8, whot speed & size should it b written ??? coz tried 2 rite a dvd with 4.18gb with 12x speed >>> it showed me power callibration error ...

Writing 4.4gb can be a bit troublesome.. 4.18gb isn't any problem..

The possible reason for error could be background processess..There could be other reason..

Power calibration error is due to dirty lens.

Use DVD lens cleaner, it should solve your problem.

Wrong!!

You can burn as much as 4483MB of data without any problem whatsoever.

i did disable many processess in bg [antivirus,firewall,ssaver etc] .....

@ whot speed, max or min ???

r mosaer b dvd good 1`s ??

& some say, "burning @ low speed is good ie readable by all drives" is it true ??

I guess max dat supported by a blank DVD is 4384 MB. If u go for overburn then it supports to 4400 or 4500MB.

Does d media u r trying to burn, supports 12X writing? If yes write at the speed of 8-10x.

No, as I said you can burn precisely 4483MB of data on DVD without any problem, anything beyond this limit will cause trouble.

@ ax3, did you ignore my previous reply?

Yes, burning at low speed yields reliable media, 8X is best bet!! And since your DVD lens is dirty(power calibration error) you can not burn at high speed, it will automatically switch you to low speed.

@neogen .... 4483MB of data on dvd, it will rite bt wont b recognizable ...

its not switching 2 lower speed [8x,6x, ..] either .......

bt rites on dvd+rw with multisession also ..........

will check with diff media [say sony] ......

Sony dvd media is working 4 me .......

bt time taken was 2 much >>> 1 hr 20 min ........

checked nero info tools & it says "system ASPI" is missing ..... whot 2 do ???
