I think liteon DVD rom is good that u can get. If you looking for a short term investment, then go for Samsung as it gives performance with scratched disk as well.

Plz search before you start a thread.

OOh well for the DVD ROM, u can close ur eyes and go for SONY brand as they r really good with a great price to performance ratio too.. (as always different ppl will hv different opinion )

U can go for a SONY DVD ROM, model-DDU-1622 or DDU-1621. Price Rs.1800 +/- Rs.150 (depending on ur location)

I hv been using SONY DVD ROM (model-DDU 1622) for quite sum time now and the good thing abt them is they dont giv u tray problems in future as in Samsung ones and the tray operation is also smooth as compared to Samsung drives.. COz i even hv Samsung Drives at my PC so know the difference between them really well....

cheers n peace.....

Sony Dvd is good.
LG is good too and comes at a bit lesser price.
Considering the performance my Lg drive copies files faster than sony. i copied 650MB around video file in 1min 58 secs flat.
my samsung drive used to take more than 3 mins to do the same.

but plz make a search before u start. that helps is saving "VALUABLE "space. The same questions and the same answers !.
and y on earth is this is hardware section?????reporting....................

Anybody purchased a LiteOn DVD-ROM recently?? I would like to know the model number. There are two models namely SOHD-16P9S and SOHD-167T. And the thing is that 167T seems better option..!! Which one is available in Mumbai right now?? AND WHAT'S THE PRICE FOR THAT??

Anyone knows who is the OEM of the Sony DDU-1622?? I think the DDU-1613 was just LiteOn SOHD-167T. But can't find the same here in Mumbai. I'm not getting information of OEM of DDU-1622, which is currently selling in the market. People are saying DDU-1621 was pathetic and it was made by BTC. But plz let me know some more about DDU-1622.

what are u going to do with this DVD drive ? I have seen many ppl around who always wanna buy the best, but if u r not gonna use if for extremes, anything will do.

I own a Damn samsung Drive, reason : when i purchased, one, it was the only black drive available in the market.. Quiet old now, not in warrenty, works , but not so happy about it.. it stops on scratches, drive tray comes out when not requested (of it's own!) , when requeste it will sit comfortably inside, will take out spinning cd's out and kinda weired things...still using it..well...I have a DVD rw also, so using this drive sparingly for watching movies, playing digit dvd's nd kinda stuff...

SAMSUNG is a DAMN brand man...all these years, the same problems keep on repeating , and nobody cares to rectify them...although, their warrenty is good.
