Online storage
Hi,
Does Anybody having idea in which issue of digit they carried out test of online storage websites. I mean to say, websites that allow you to upload your private content to their server "free of cost" which you can access from your office and home.
If someone know of any of these website which offers such service FREE OF COST than please let me know any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Don't know abt da site. But u can follow da alternate way given below.
BTW do u hav any free gmail a/c. if yes then u cud create another a/c at fastmail.com n just attach files which u want 2 be stored online n mail them 2 ur gmail a/c n then receive ur mail there n save it 2 any folder provided there. i've an a/c if u want i cud request them 2 giv u an a/c also (if u want) i don't know whether they'll provide u or not but keep luking for any such offer by google.
Correct me if i hav said sumthing wrong

dont u think a pendrive wod be more viable
its a one time investment, and you can use it quite regularly too, and no need of a hispeed net connection
considering a 128 mb costs around 1k
not a bad option

i think i read some such articles (may be not in digit ) but directly or indirectly they tend to say that ..."we cannot trust these so call free sites ...they can exist the day ....next day you even dont get hint that the site ever existed...."
so they could not recommend any site....
by the way i think there are lot of gmail fans here ..but no body seems to saying use gmail ....
even i have heard that gmail mail space can be used as new drive to computer(using a software) ....what can be better way of online storage than this?
about free service ,they will always put some restriction and i feel that this free service dont work after that 100 mb upload/downloads...limit
what ever they say....
any way dont know too much things about it ....but i think being with these gmail and all at least you can be sure that next day you wake up the site will be still there (your bandwidth not wasted)

Very good point made by saharika. If your data is important............you need to state why you need this data online. For transfering data to a person sitting in some distant location?
or
maybe you want some sort of a back up or something?
State the purpose of your data-storage and then maybe i can suggest some alternative?

Ya, don't go for any free sites, ur data could be at risk
Use GMail(1 GB) or LycosMail(300 MB)
Both give options of storing data online

Filesanywhere give 30 day free trial - http://www.filesanywhere.com/
50 megs of space with 2 meg per file limit. Easily overcome by using the spanned archive option in Winzip to split large files.

What the hell! Just use the Gmail drive software and you can transfer data directly to your Gmail account. No need of forwarding and emailing. Gmail drive becomes another hard drive for you to use. That's my suggestion.

tried megaupload.com it allows 500MB storage. Lycos is good and the best is gmail , a bit slow but works for me.
Actually my friend has no other means of sending 105MB file than internet so i thought online storage would be a better option.
Thanks to all those who answered my question That's the reason why digit readers are always ahead of those who don't read digit.
