I would say go for Philips or Sony for Home Theatre setup. Samsung is nowhere near to these two when it comes to audio and video performance.

Check this one with wireless rear speakers and comes with speaker stands too: http://www.sony.co.in/product/dav-dz570

this one too: http://www.sony.co.in/product/dav-dz270

From Phlips: http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...tem+HTS3366-98

go for philips or samsung for HT system. You will get it in your budget man...

And yah..before taking it, you must check if it supports USB pen drive or not.Mostly you will get a divx/xvid player..which will play your AVIs and if its having 5.1 AC3 audio..then u will get it in ur HT

i got Passion DVD player from BigBazzar... in just 1300 and 6 months warrenty..which plays USB mp4 also!

so..best of luck

regards.

and you do have to try out Sony HT's audio quality

Go in for a Samsung without fail. Sony comes second for me & philips is nowhere on my list.
Samsung HTs are better looking, come with more tech & much much nicer speakers than philips though i guess sony can give it quite some competition.
bluetooth enabled ones will cost u a bomb n are difficult to setup according to my sources.

if you spare a lil' more cash, buy what i have - Samsung HTX250 - got a usb port which'll play your .avi files easily... & did i mention it looks good enuf to make u drool? you might be able to get it for around 22k now
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/d...d=HT-X250T/XTL

otherwise,
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/d...=HT-TZ315T/XTL with tower speakers 1000W sound, usb host rs.18k

or,
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/d...d=HT-Z210T/XTL usb host, 800 w sound rs.12k

Nope. Most HT systems dont support .mkv format. DivX, Xvid will work in most though.
