DNS problems - this IP 85.255.115.59

Something two days back has been installed in my PC, I'm at a total loss as to what got installed... I use WinXP SP2 and the ISP is Airtel, bharti broadband.
What happened is the DNS in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties (reached by accessories-->communications-->network connections, LAN network connection)
the preferred DNS server points to 85.255.115.59 no matter how many times I set it to the airtel specified one or the openDNS one.
When it points to 85.255.115.59 I cannot use the net at all as the DNS fails to resolve the website names to IP nos.
What I did is used the automatic option there both for Obtain IP address automatically and for Obtain DNS server adress automatically, and that made it work. And whenever I restart my PC or at times even if I dont the preferred DNS server again starts to point to 85.255.115.59 , On using the automatic option once more it works until I restart/or after a few minutes.
Whenever I point to my ISP, Airtel bharti broadband preferred DNS 59.144.127.16 and alternate 59.144.127.17 or the openDNS servers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, the same happens...

HOW does this DNS preferred IP keep on changing to 85.255.115.59 by itself ???

I tried that, changed the registry entry to the airtel DNS... the changed registry entries change back to 85.255.115.59
I used Ad-aware it found these entires called it a malware, and removed them. the next time I switched on the PC these entries reappear...
AVG free does not find any infections or viruses...

Yeah I also had the same problem, And I remember correctly that I had posted this question in a forum (dunno name) and it told me to install Malware Bytes Anti Malware , and it helped me to remove the trojan..
The Name of the trojan is something like Trojan.DNS.Changer or something...try doing a scan with the tool i mentioned http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Try re-installing the chipset drivers that came with your motherboard cd.

Malware Bytes Anti Malware seems to have removed it perfectly...
And how It happened is below... so that everyone else can be carefull
I was trying to view a wmv file I downloaded, After I uncompressed the rar file, it wanted to download a Codec, and this file itself had the protected option on, I allowed it to download the codec thats when the DNS and other things started happening...
I know about the trojans, but never even dreamt that codecs loaded thru Windows media player or thru Real Player can contain these malicious programs...
this particular codec was named 3636
after it got installed the next time I started the comp, it went on a neverending rebooting cycle... its only in the safe mode that I could remove this trojan.dns changer
This site I found by googling trojan.dns changer

gives some info on this trojan
All these trojans come from the top level domain 85.255.###.###
Best to be carefull if u dont want to end up with this problem
even though AVGfree, which is an amazing virus scanner is present, the trojan got thru without any warning from it
