Problem with Second hard disk.

Hi Guys,
Currently I am facing one problem with my computer. The configuration of my computer is Gigabyte GA-8SMML motherboard, P-IV, 512 MB RAM, NVIDIA Display Card and 2 Hard Disks of Seagate (40MB & 80MB). I have Win XP SP2 (default OS), Win 98SE and PCQ Linux on C,E and on some free space of my computer. All these three OS' are on the older hard disk.
Following is the problem of my computer:
As I mentioned above, I have two hard disks. The second hard disk of 80 GB capacity was installed recently. The older hard disk is of 40GB capacity and my OS reside upon the older one. Both of the hard disks has 4 partitions. When I attempt to scan all drives by Norton Antivirus 2005 my system gets hung during scan of the new hard disk.
I have PCTV TV-tuner card on my computer on the same partition of Win XP (E-drive). If I record a TV program on a separate drive on a separate disk then my system gets hung immediately after the recording is started.
May anybody kindly suggest ways to solve my problems.

well bro...seems both ur HDD r of diff rmp thats why ur getting some problems ..Get Everest ..d/l it..and see if both HDD's have same speed or not.....

Frankly speaking Norton is a Crappy app ...and 80-90% times pple with problems have norton on the machine..i will recommmend u try Kaspersky..its much Lighter on Resources ....

also chk for bad sectores..coz many times if the sector is not read by the OS ..it may Hang(i Guess!!).....

i think u have bad sectors too !!!
With the difference in rpm i doubt this problem will occur coz i have a 5400rpm 20gb & my p1 hdd 1.63gb 3200rom workz great !!! infact better then before !!! coz i have created a pagefile on the 1.63gb hdd of 512-512mb so i dont exactly use te hdd for data transfer !! only for pagefiling !!!

exchange data from hdd 2 hdd and low level format them 1 by 1 !!!

hey check ur RAM module for errors !!!!!!

i have afeeling that could be ur problem !!!
