This is Vicky here. As you know i'm always in problem. So here I go with my new problem. I'm using (Seagate 10GB HDD - the victim) with my PIII 500 Mhz, Intel Chipset Motherboard running Windows 98 having 128 Ram from the last 3 years. The system was working fine..... but till this Sunday. Now the problem occured when I formatted it last friday in order to clean the registry and installing fresh OS setup so that it will work smoothly. The Hard disk is not allowing me to format after 75%. Its stucks. I've used Diskmanager for partition. It shows Bad Sector Filing error. I tried formatting with Win 98 CD, which stops at 0%. Then tried Windows 2000 Professional CD, boot started and asked for partition. After completion, it shows 8MB unpartition. Again tried formatting which again stopped at 0%. I don't know whats going on..... Please suggest what to do?

Your HDD has been damaged. Sectors are corrupted. Go in for a New HDD of atleast 80GB SATA interface.
Its impossible to repair a damaged hard disk practically but in theory it may be possible but with only 10% chances of recovery. |

Yes looks like it's busted. Try a partinting software to try and use only a particular part of the hard disc. I got that done once but i do not know the procedure.
Hopefully some one else may come with a solution.
