Default Open Ports

Well after a few gigs of heavy download my school closed all the ports. So now I can't use torrents, limewire or any p2p sofware. All ports are blocked. I tried like so many, utorrent says all blocked.. Now is there any way to find which ports are open? I tried typing netstat -a in cmd and it showed a few ports with connection established and listening, but still they don't work with utorrent. Any idea? Need to use utorrent and limewire. Can't really let go 2mbps Ul connection.

Regarding port forwarding, I think you should know about router and all to forward, right?? I know nothing about my school router/connection or anything... Any solution?

First of all to make things really clear, schools/colleges or any educational institutions hv really STRICT policies for use of Torrents or an P2P usage for tha matter... If caught, the person can be expelled or charged a really hefty fine...

Next thing...the I.T infrastructure in every college is really good these days considering the fact as u mentioned tat they (ur school authorities) hv come to knw abt the usage of such P2P s/w or clients....so obviously they will (for atleast sum time) be monitoring the usage really strictly... so to be silent (not to be using P2P) in this period will be a good option...

as the college ppl hv really good IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) wich will in a matter of 10-15 seconds cna make out from wat PC/ IP address the P2P(or any suspicious access other than the ones allowed for college use) is being accessed..

Jus a cautionary note wich i wanted to tell u.. as a friend.. so plz do not risk ur reputation in the pretext of being lured to such amazing speeds at ur college...
-----------

All said and done... u can try proxies...search the uTorrent sites for the same.. (i wud hv given u the HOW TOs....) but dunno if its allowed here.... or no.. so im being on the safer side..

Also, the so called Port Forwarding thingy will jus NOT be tat easy esp on a college n/w because..of the IDSes as they will jus block any kind of access..u might thing tat ur college's labs are jus so stupid and lesser educated in terms of these net access..but there is a silent assassin (in the place of an expert N/W engineer) sitting in a room and watching all of ur stuff... believe me..but even if he was not there... the college's n/w area really secure to really break into them or enable a port forward.. coz port forwarding simply means tat u as a user are dedicating a specialised port for incomming and outgoing connectiong to enable P2P access..
---------------

Cheers n e-peace...

Smart? Hmm don't know. Torrents, p2p were working since past 2 years. P2P were. Torrents we managed to bypass this year only.. But then they blocked all messengers and stuff because of this guy abusing online.. Then after unblocking after 2 days, p2p and torrent clients stopped working.. Now nothing works

Well blocked.. We use a proxy to connect to main pc and then to internet. I mean I need the listening ports, they are blocked.. not the proxy port..
